QC Technician - Temp/Contract

We’re recruiting for a Quality Control Technician to join BioChek (UK) Limited in Bracknell, supporting the testing and quality control of veterinary diagnostic products used by customers worldwide. This is a hands-on laboratory role suited to someone with previous lab experience who is comfortable following controlled procedures, carrying out accurate testing and maintaining high standards of documentation. The position will run on a temporary/contract basis until the end of December 2026. There is potential for extension/being made permanent but no guarantee. The role Working within BioChek’s Quality Control team, you’ll help ensure products and materials meet the required quality, regulatory and technical standards before they are released. Your day-to-day work will involve laboratory testing, preparing samples and reagents, recording and reviewing results, checking equipment and supporting investigations where required. You’ll work within established GMP, GLP and Quality Management System procedures, with training provided on relevant methods and systems. What you’ll be doing Carrying out Quality Control assays in line with approved test methods and procedures Preparing reagents, standards, controls and samples for laboratory testing Inspecting and testing finished products, diagnostic kits, components and incoming materials Accurately recording test results and maintaining controlled documentation Reviewing routine test data and escalating unusual or out-of-specification results Operating laboratory equipment and completing routine checks and calibrations Supporting the manufacture, testing and monitoring of internal controls Assisting with investigations, repeat testing and corrective actions Maintaining appropriate stocks of laboratory reagents, consumables and materials Keeping laboratory areas and equipment clean, safe and organised Working in accordance with GMP, GLP, quality and health & safety requirements Contributing to continuous improvement and wider Quality Control activities What we’re looking for You’ll need previous experience working in a laboratory environment, ideally gained within life sciences, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing or another relevant setting. You’ll also bring: Good practical laboratory skills, including accurate pipetting The ability to follow written procedures and test methods carefully and consistently Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work Good record-keeping and an understanding of the importance of data integrity The ability to organise and prioritise work as testing requirements change Confidence using basic computer systems to record and review information Good communication skills and a willingness to raise questions or potential quality issues The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Knowledge of GMP, GLP or controlled quality documentation would be beneficial. Previous ELISA experience and a science-based qualification such as a degree, HNC/HND or BTEC would also be advantageous, but relevant practical laboratory experience will be considered. Interested?
