Who we are
GradRoute helps students find internships, placements and graduate roles that fit them. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the choices you have. For anything not covered here, contact us at hello@gradroute.ai.
What we collect
- Account details — your name and email address, provided through our sign-in provider (Clerk). A university email (.ac.uk) may map you to your university’s plan.
- Profile information — what you tell us you’re looking for: your intent (internship / placement / graduate role), a short summary you type, preferred locations, fields and salary expectations.
- Your CV — only if you choose to upload it. We extract its text to build your profile, score it and generate cover letters.
- Usage data — which features you use (e.g. searches run, CV reviews), used for fair-use limits and to improve the product.
How we use it
- To match you with relevant roles — your summary and CV text are converted into a numerical representation (an embedding) used for ranking.
- To run the features you ask for — CV scoring and cover-letter generation send the relevant text to our AI providers to produce the result you requested.
- To operate your account, apply plan limits, and keep the service reliable.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not show you advertising.
Who processes it for us
We use a small number of service providers to run GradRoute: Clerk (authentication), Microsoft Azure (hosting and private file storage for CVs), Anthropic and Voyage AI (AI processing for matching, CV review and cover letters), Stripe (payments — Stripe handles checkout and your card details; we never see or store card numbers), and the job sources whose listings we index (currently Fantastic Jobs’ Active Jobs DB, Jooble and Adzuna) — note that we send them search terms, never your identity. Each provider only receives what it needs to perform its function.
How long we keep it
Your data is kept while your account is active. Deleting your account erases your profile, preferences, tracker, CV files and generated documents from our systems. You can also delete an uploaded CV at any time without deleting your account.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data-protection law you can ask us to access, correct, export or erase your personal data, and you can object to or restrict certain processing. Email hello@gradroute.ai and we’ll respond within one month.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we’ll tell you by email or in the app before they take effect.
