Technician Location: Glasgow About the role In this hands-on role, you will play an important part in delivering traffic, transport and pedestrian surveys for a wide range of clients and projects. You will help install, monitor and recover survey equipment including ANPR cameras, video systems, radar units and automatic traffic counters, making sure equipment is positioned correctly, operating safely and collecting data to the required standard. You will work across different survey locations, often outdoors and in live roadside environments, so a strong focus on safety, planning and attention to detail is essential. The role will involve reviewing survey instructions, preparing equipment before attending site, recording equipment usage accurately, and providing updates on progress or any site restrictions that may affect delivery. The data collected through these surveys supports transport planning, infrastructure improvements and safer, more efficient journeys. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, is confident working independently, can respond practically to changing site conditions, and takes pride in delivering high-quality work safely and reliably. Key responsibilities * Carrying out traffic, transportation and pedestrian surveys using a range of survey technologies including video, ANPR, ATC, radar and manual techniques. * Installing, monitoring and recovering survey equipment safely and efficiently. * Always following health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment. * Travelling to survey locations across the UK and Ireland. * Reviewing survey briefs and understanding project requirements before attending site. * Liaising with the Project Manager to provide clear, timely updates on survey progress, including any site restrictions, access issues or other factors that may affect delivery. * Preparing equipment and supporting site reviews where required. * Keeping company vehicles and equipment clean, well maintained and safe for use, and reporting any faults, damage or issues promptly. * Using company processes to accurately record equipment usage for each site, ensuring all handling and storage requirements are followed. * Supporting colleagues and contributing to the successful delivery of operational projects. About you We are looking for a reliable, adaptable and motivated individual who takes safety seriously and enjoys working in a practical, field-based environment. You will be organised, confident communicating with others and able to manage your time effectively across a range of projects and locations. Essential skills and experience * Experience working in field-based, operational or technical environments. * A strong focus on health, safety and quality. * The ability to work independently and make sound decisions whilst on site. * Good communication skills and the confidence to share information clearly with colleagues and stakeholders. * Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. * The ability to manage workloads and work to deadlines. * A flexible approach to working hours, including nights, weekends and occasional overnight stays. * Confidence working in a range of weather and outdoor environments. * A full UK driving licence. Desirable skills and qualifications * Experience working on highways or in similar roadside environments. * Lantra, CSCS or similar industry qualifications. Physical requirements This is an active, outdoor role and may involve: * Working outdoors in varying weather conditions. * Walking, standing or sitting for extended periods. * Working at heights of up to 5 metres. * Safely handling and moving equipment weighing up to 42lbs, approximately 19kg.
